Believe the Hype!

thedetroitfoodie:

It’s been a while since i’ve done a proper review, so this posting will focus on metro Detroit’s newest hotspot: Vinsetta Garage!

As you may know, the owners of Union Woodshop transformed this former automotive repair shop into a restaurant, and it has quickly become one of the most sought after dining spots around Detroit. NO they don’t take reservations, and forget about stopping by in the evening. A typical wait time for dinner is 2 hours, no thanks!

My suggestion: Go here for lunch! It’s less congested, you won’t wait more than 15 minutes, AND there’s plenty of seating to choose from!

Was the food worth the trip??? Yessir! For starters, i ordered their White Bean Chili Verde Soup which had a perfect balance between spicy, savory, and hearty flavors. Next, we ordered their Pizza Margherita - coal fired pizza topped with San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil. One bite, and you could taste the quality of the ingredients. Although the pizza was good, the dough was bland & uneventful. I probably wouldn’t order pizza on my next visit, instead i’d go for a burger or wings.

Lastly, leave room for sweets - you’ll thank me later! Vinsetta Garage’s pastry chef is a culinary genius - making everything from scratch & creating masterpieces of deliciousness with each carefully crafted dessert. The Rock & Rye Ice Cream (topped with Pop-Rocks) was inventive and their Keylime Pie was superb!!! : )

The main draw, besides the food of course, is the restaurant’s amazing decor! Nice open feel, plenty of natural lighting, and lovely little touches of Vinsetta’s automotive past are mixed in with a modern/industrial flare without it looking kitschy.

So, does Vinsetta Garage live up to its hype? Definitely!!!

Food, Service, Atmosphere were all fantastic! But, as i mentioned previously, go here for lunch (not dinner) and enjoy! : )
